FakeEmail.net ("we") uses a small number of cookies and browser local storage items to keep your temporary email inbox working without requiring a user account or password. We also use third-party cookies for anonymous usage statistics, spam protection on our contact form, and advertising that keeps our service free for everyone. We do not sell personal data and we do not build user profiles.
What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies are tiny text files that a website saves on your phone, tablet, or computer through your web browser. They allow a website to recognize your browser as you refresh the screen or move between pages, so you do not lose your active session.
Local storage is a standard browser feature that lets a website save basic interface settings directly on your device. Unlike cookies, data kept in local storage is never automatically transmitted back to our servers when you load a page; it remains purely inside your browser until you clear it.
How We Use Cookies on FakeEmail.net
Because FakeEmail.net does not ask you to register or log in, an essential session cookie is the only way our server knows which temporary email addresses (up to 10 per session) and incoming messages belong to your current browser window. If you close or leave the page inactive for about two hours, this session cookie expires automatically.
While the session cookie in your browser expires after about two hours of inactivity, the underlying session data stored on our European Union servers (your chosen addresses and the messages shown in your inbox) is deleted during routine cleanup, typically within about a week of inactivity. Please remember that anyone who knows or guesses an address can open its inbox, so temporary inboxes are not private.

However, if you remember the exact username and domain you were using, you can click the "Change" button to reopen that address and view messages that arrived in the meantime.
Does local storage send my preferences to FakeEmail.net servers?
No. The theme and langSuggestDismissed items stored in your browser's local storage stay entirely on your device. They only tell your browser whether to display the light or dark theme and whether to hide the language suggestion banner.
How can I turn off personalized Google ads?
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you can decline advertising cookies in the consent message that appears when advertising is active in your region. Users anywhere in the world can also turn off personalized advertising directly in Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
